Aykut Aksit.

Building at the intersection of mechanics and medicine.

I am the Co-founder and CEO of Haystack Medical. My career has been defined by a single, difficult challenge: the inner ear is one of the most inaccessible parts of the human body.

During my PhD at Columbia University’s Small Scale Mechanics Laboratory, I co-developed a proprietary fabrication method known as Two-Photon Templated Electrodeposition (2PTE). This allowed us to create fully metallic, ultra-sharp microneedles capable of precision drug delivery through the Round Window Membrane.

Today, we are translating that academic breakthrough into a clinical reality. As we move toward First-in-Human trials at Columbia NYP, our mission is to provide the first reliable, safe access point for the next generation of inner-ear therapeutics.

Beyond the Lab

When I’m not scaling Haystack, you can usually find me on the water sailing, experimenting with algorithmic art, or spending time with my two cats in Brooklyn. I believe that the same precision required in microengineering also fuels my passion for complex, data-driven art.

Acknowledgement: The progress at Haystack Medical is the result of tireless collaboration with a stellar team of mentors, engineers, and clinical believers at Columbia University and beyond.
